for long-term carbon risk reduction.
| Count what counts! | Why footprinter? | 1,000 footprints and counting! |
Developing a robust carbon model and a carbon risk assessment for your organization can be an overwhelming and daunting task. The good news is that you do not have to be a carbon expert!
The key is to invest your time developing innovative ways to address hot spots:
- Count what counts. This is where experience helps. Build on proven carbon emissions datasets linked to reviewed and tested footprint models. Do not re-invent the wheel.
- Get a baseline quickly. Think days and hours rather than weeks or months.
- Spend your time and energy on data collection and reduction planning: not on emissions factor research, model building and bug fixing.
Where is the best place to start? How do I start? When should I start?
- The best time to start is now. Carbon has a learning curve. Get on it.
- Think broadly about your carbon risk. It encompasses regulatory and brand risks as well as economic and operational risks.
- Start small. Do not start with the entire organization. Start with an office, your transportation, or a company event. Get started now.
